Two special programs to enjoy traditional Japanese culture in a unique way.
On the first national holiday in November (and the middle day of a three-day weekend), Nikko Style Nagoya will hold an Ikebana Workshop in English at the Communal lobby, a place of interaction and discovery, during the daytime. In the evening, a special dinner event will be held with a traditional Japanese dance performance by geiko and the chance to play tatami room games with them at the style kitchen restaurant, along with a meal full of autumnal delicacies.

【2】Dinner & Show “Geiko ja NIGHT”

An Ikebana lesson in English will be held by a teacher who lived in the U.S. and is certified as a first-grade instructor of the Sogetsu school of ikebana.
It will be carried out in small groups, both beginners and experienced ikebana practitioners, will be able to bring out the beauty of the flowers and refine their sense of balance.
If you wish, your work can be displayed in the lobby until the next day, giving you a unique opportunity to demonstrate your work to a public audience.
*The application process is open to both Japanese and non-Japanese participants. The language used is English. (English level = upper-intermediate)
*High school students and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If the parent or guardian is also join the workshop, he or she needs to be applied too.
Born in Arimatsu-cho, Midori-ku, Nagoya City. She studied abroad from 12th grade until she graduated college in Texas, U.S. Since she returned to Japan, she teaches English and works as an interpreter and translator for the automotive industry.
She has studied ikebana in the Sogetsu school and has about 20 years of experience.
For more than eight years, she has led “The Ikebana Workshop”, an ikebana workshop in English, and has held classes in Kyoto and Tokyo as well as Nagoya.
Geiko, who can only be seen at high-class ryotei restaurants, will appear at “style kitchen”. The modern restaurant will be transformed into a gorgeous Geisha world for one night only!
Two geiko will perform a number of traditional arts, including a splendid Japanese dance performance, and will also go around the guests’ tables in the restaurant to introduce Japanese tatami room games.
Enjoy the special experience of meeting the geiko while feasting on style kitchen’s fabulous cuisine, which incorporates the essence of French cuisine with gourmet delicacies from around the world and emphasizes a sense of seasonality.
For dessert, the finale of the full course, we will offer a plate created in collaboration with Aoyagi Sohonke, a Japanese confectionery shop with a 140-year history in Nagoya.

Geiko will welcome guests at the communal lobby.
Welcome drink and canapés will be served.
【19:00 – 20:30 Dinner & Show】
Dinner: Amuse-bouche, Appetizer, Soup, Fish dish, Meat dish, Dessert, Tea or Coffee with Mignardises
Dinner will be served during a show by geiko. Please enjoy the course that incorporates the flavors of the season.
About Meigiren Kumiai
Meigiren Kumiai is an association of Maiko and Geiko in Naka-ku, Nagoya City, which has been in existence for over 70 years.
About 20 members of the associated Geigo and Maiko practice a wide variety of traditional arts, including Japanese dance, narimono, taiko, drum, flute, Japanese music, shamisen, and singing, and carry on the traditional arts.
Mastering the famous “Golden Shachihoko” is a must.
